Camp Create: Summer Art Camps for Kids!
If you love the arts, the AGG is the place to be this summer! Budding artists will get creative at the AGG’s week-long art camps, exploring a variety of materials and techniques to create masterpieces that will be shown off at weekly mini art openings. AGG’s summer art camp provides children ages 7 to 12 with the opportunity to experience creativity and innovation in a unique and transformative setting that combines a world class art collection and rich natural surroundings. Each week is unique – select one or more!
Camp Create: Summer 2018 is a series of five week-long summer camp programs that run daily from 9 am to 4 pm at the AGG:
Week 1 (July 3 – 6) Fresh Paint! | FULL – Waiting List Only |
Uncover the possibilities of paint! Campers will explore a variety of painting techniques and materials from canvas and paper to ceramics and wood to create artworks for their very own exhibition. Then take the show on the road, and travel across the University of Guelph campus to paint The Cannon! (four days/$200)
Week 2 (July 9 – 13) Cool Crafting | FULL – Waiting List Only |
For all young makers who love hands-on activities! Making and crafting techniques will be used in the creation of a range of DIY projects that engage both critical and creative thinking. Campers will try their hands at weaving, painting, stenciling, and collage as they breathe new life into recycled materials, from yarn and flower pots to ball caps and T-shirts.
Week 3 (July 16 – 20) Picture This!
Equipped with their own digital camera for the week, each camper will develop their own unique photographic eye. Participants will be introduced to various styles of photography, experimenting with different ways to make images as well as making photograms, staging a photoshoot, and watching their images come to life in stop motion animation.
Week 4 (July 23 – 27) Art Stars
Bring a character to life in just one week! Whether their favourite super hero or rock star, or a new character they invent themselves, campers will use their incredible imaginations to explore activities from storytelling and comic book illustration to puppet making and clothing design in the creation of fantastic worlds.
Week 5 (July 30 – August 3) Art Adventures
A week of outdoor exploration and creation, campers will explore the local environment through drawings, photographs, sculptures, paintings, and maps. Inspired by the surroundings of the AGG, participants will also explore the AGG’s Sculpture Park, hike through the Arboretum, and visit the Rutherford Family Conservatory at the University of Guelph in the creation of nature-inspired art works.
We welcome children with little or no art making experience. Children slightly above the age range are welcome to join with the understanding that lessons are geared towards the posted ages, but we ask that parents respect the minimum age limit.
The fee per week is $250 and includes all art supplies. Camp Create: Summer 2018 is pleased to offer extended drop off and pick up hours. Morning drop off is from 8:30 – 9:00 am and afternoon pick up is from 4:00 – 4:30 pm.
Camp Create: Summer 2018 is a peanut-free environment. If additional known allergies are identified to our Staff, further notification will be provided.
