Boarding House Gallery (BHG) is an artistic partnership between the University of Guelph’s School of Fine Art and Music (SOFAM) and the Art Gallery of Guelph (AGG), whose shared mandate is to present contemporary art exhibitions that are accessible and relevant to Guelph’s diverse community.
Boarding House Gallery opened in February 2013 and is located in the Boarding House Arts building at the corner of Dublin and Waterloo Streets in downtown Guelph. The gallery is situated among a vibrant and diverse community of artists and arts organizations that reside in the storied limestone architecture.
Boarding House Gallery is supported by the School of Fine Art and Music through the University of Guelph’s College of Arts and by the Art Gallery of Guelph through the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council.

Shelley Niro: ONGNIAAHRA/Niagara January 13 to February 25, 2018
Shelley Niro’s exhibition at the Boarding House Gallery marks the beginning of the artist’s creative residency with the Art Gallery of Guelph and Musagetes Foundation in 2018. Emerging from Niro’s engagement with the AGG’s extensive collection of historic Haudenosaunee beadwork donated by William Reid, the installation features Niro’s 2015 video Niagara in dialogue with selections from the collection that are associated with Niagara Falls, a landscape that enticed some of the earliest European and American tourists with entertainment spectacles and souvenirs.
