Launching the ArtsEverywhere festival organized and presented by Musagetes, join the artists of the El Paso-based What Remains Collective (Dr. Adriana Alvarez, Iris Morales, Mabel Weber, and Monica Lozano) for a guided conversation about documenting the stories of immigrant families as well as the belongings abandoned by individuals over the course of attempts to cross the political border into the United States.

The conversation will be followed by an opening reception for the collective’s exhibition What Remains, that brings together photography, video, and La Trenza – an evolving installation that braids together the belongings and stories of humans in transit, immigrants, asylum seekers, displaced families, men, women, and children who have experienced the journey of crossing a border, from the heavily militarized to the nearly invisible. Representing individual experiences through the objects they carry with them, this piece is made of materials recovered from the desert of Ciudad Juarez that were found half buried.
