John McCrae Talk with Bev Dietrich

Join the AGG Volunteer Association on Tuesday, May 13 at 12:00 pm for a special presentation by Bev Dietrich on John McCrae. Bev will speak about the life and legacy of the renowned Canadian poet, soldier, and physician. Best known for writing the iconic First World War poem “In Flanders Fields,” McCrae’s story is one of courage, creativity, and compassion.

During this engaging and informative talk, Bev will explore key moments from McCrae’s life, offering insight into his years in Guelph, his military service, and the personal experiences that shaped his famous work. The presentation will also delve into how “In Flanders Fields” came to be written and its lasting impact around the world. In addition to sharing stories and lesser-known facts about McCrae, the talk will include some “myth busting” to clear up common misconceptions about his life and legacy.
