AGG announces ART/CRAFT 2016
The Art Gallery of Guelph is pleased to announce ART/CRAFT 2016, the AGG’s signature fundraising event. The event will take place on Saturday November 12, 2016 from 7-10 pm with a party and live art auction featuring a fresh line-up of 40 works by Canadian artists. Hosted by Stephen Ranger of Waddington’s Auction House, the event is not to be missed by visual art lovers and collectors. Along with general tickets to the party (7-8 pm) and auction (8-10 pm), the AGG features “Art Collector” admission, a limited set of $1000 tickets providing access to one of ten works by artist Shay Salehi, as well as a VIP reception with the artist from 6-7 pm.
Now in its third year, the Art Gallery of Guelph’s event promotes creative innovation and celebrates the powerful intersection of art and craft. This year’s luminaries include
Rebecca Baird, Douglas Coupland, Susan Dobson, John Kissick, Jason McLean, Kayo O’Young, Ryan Price, Don Russell, Seth, Ron Shuebrook, Naomi Smith, and Tony Urquhart, among others.
“Once again, we have been amazed by the generosity and creativity of all participating,” says AGG Director Shauna McCabe. “The phenomenal enthusiasm of the local and national arts community makes ART/CRAFT a cornerstone of the Art Gallery of Guelph’s annual fundraising activities.” Also featured over the course of the evening is signature locally sourced food and wine from the Chefs and Sommeliers of the University of
Guelph’s Hospitality Services, craft beer from Four Fathers Brewing, and live music by Frog & Henry.
The annual ART/CRAFT fundraising initiative is the single most important event in AGG’s calendar year, during which essential funds are raised for the gallery’s creative programming, publications, events, and educational opportunities. In 2015, AGG raised just shy of $89,000 in auction sales, ticket sales, and donations from individuals and businesses across the region
