155,578 | 3-D Drawing Workshop with Alison Norlen
Join us on Thursday, April 17 at 6:30 pm for a unique opportunity to contribute to a collaborative, layered 3-D landscape in this workshop led by artist Alison Norlen. Presented in the Community Creation Station at the Art Gallery of Guelph, the crowdsourced project will unfold over the course of 155,578, AGG’s summer exhibition that explores the power of local narratives. Rooted in the community and shaped by collective participation, the artwork will grow with each contribution, reflecting the diverse perspectives and experiences of those who take part.
This hands-on session invites participants of varied ages and skill levels to start the creative process and leave their mark on a dynamic, evolving artwork. While registration is required for the April 17 workshop as space is limited, visitors are welcome to contribute to the 3-D drawing throughout the summer. Drop in during gallery hours to add your voice to this living installation and help shape a visual story that celebrates connection, creativity, and place.
As well as recent commissions for the New Orleans Jazz Museum and Nuit Blanche Toronto, selected solo exhibitions of Alison Norlen’s large-scale drawings were most recently on view at the Art Gallery of Guelph in Armatures and Imaginaries in 2023. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Art at the University of Manitoba and a Master of Fine Arts from Yale University, in 2022 Norlen was named a Distinguished Professor in the faculty of Art & Art History art at the University of Saskatchewan where she teaches in the areas of painting, drawing, and sculpture. Her work can be found in private and public collections across the United States and Canada.
