ᑕᐅᑐᑉᐹ Tautuppaa | Long Looking Exhibition Walkthrough with Anna Gaby-Trotz
Join printmaker Anna Gaby-Trotz on Wednesday, April 17, at 6 pm, for a walkthrough of the exhibition Tautuppaa | Long Looking, featuring the prints and drawings of late Inuit artist Tim Pitsiulak. Currently digital media technician for the School of Fine Art and Music at the University of Guelph, Anna worked at Open Studio as Technical Director from 2015-2021, where she developed a North/South Printmaking Residency with The West Baffin Eskimo Cooperative (WBEC) and Dorset Fine Arts, ultimately working with the team at Open Studio to produce Tim’s prints. Invited by Tim to visit Kinngait to experience nature as he did, she spent time with the artist in his “studio” – the land – and will share stories about his work and life there. Anna has recently printed collaborative print projects with Namara Projects and WBEC, working with artists Ningiukulu Teevee, Quvianaqtuk Pudlat, and Saimaiyu Akesuk.
In her own printmaking and photography practices, Gaby-Trotz examines our present-day relationship to water and land. She received funding to travel through The North West Passage to document climate change and was selected as an artist in residence on the Canada C3 Expedition with Students on Ice. Her recent work Baseline was exhibited at Open Studio in Toronto.
