The Donald Forster Sculpture Park is one of the most diverse of its kind in Canada, featuring forty-one outdoor installations by prominent Canadian and international artists on a 2.5-acre site adjacent to the Art Gallery of Guelph. Hear from author, art historian, and the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre’s founding Director, Judith Nasby, as she takes attendees through the events of the early years of Guelph’s public gallery and sculpture park, as detailed in her two publications, The Making of a Museum and Kivioq’s Journey.

This program is organized and presented by AGG’s Volunteer Association.

Speaker Bio

Judith Nasby

Judith Nasby, founding director and curator of the Art Gallery of Guelph (formerly the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre), was named Curator Emerita when she retired in 2013. She has lectured and toured exhibitions on four continents and was a visiting Curator at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing, China, and at the University of Delaware. Judith is author of Irene Avaalaaqiaq: Myth and Reality; Rolph Scarlett: Painter, Designer, Jeweller; and co-author of The Cultivated Landscape: An Exploration of Art and Agriculture. In 2021 Judith was nominated for a Governor General’s Award for her book, The Making of a Museum. Her most recent publication is Kivioq’s Journey and Other Revelations in the Donald Foster Sculpture Park at the Art Gallery of Guelph.
